The annual ceremony in memory of the miners who lost their lives in Lindsay Colliery Disaster, in 1957, was held on Friday 16th December at Kelty Community Centre. Reverend Hugh Steele and Hank John led ex miners and their families and members of the community in a service of remembrance Tributes were paid by Councillors Alex Campbell and Mary Lockhart to the miners, who lost their lives in the 1957 disaster, and to all miners who have died working in the coal industry. Alex Rowley MSP reminded the gathering how important the collieries were in shaping communities in Central Scotland.
Wreaths were laid on the miners statue on behalf of The Retired Miners. Fife Council, Kelty Community Council, Alex Rowley MSP, The Kelty Heritage Group, St Josephs RC Church and members of the public.
